it would have been my Gran's birthday today
she died when Miss K was only a few weeks old, she was her 7th great grandchild,
and Miss K's middle name is Rose, named after Gran.
when she died my mum asked if there was anything of Gran's I would like. all the mismatched cups and saucers had been thrown away, so I dug up this rosebush from her garden.
and it's flowering beautifully for her.
That's lovely, it would have been my grandads birthday soon so I know how you feel

What a lovely thing to have to remember your Gran by - it's a gorgeous rose.
ReplyDeleteI had a fushia I had in memory of my grandmother. It was her favourite and I struck it from a cutting. It didn't survive one of my moves. I miss both of them.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't think of a more special treasure to have of your Gran, It is a beautiful rose.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful rose and a wonderful way to remember your grandmother.
ReplyDeleteA really lovely rose - a great way to think of her, especilly as it's flowering. It's so hard remembering grandparents you were close to and wishing they were still around. I have a perennial cornflower that was my Grandad's (also flowering now) and the contents of my Gran's button box. Just sewed a couple of the tiny vintage shell buttons onto my new baby's boottees. Really precious stuff.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely for the rose to be flowering now too. What a wonderful way to remember your gran
