white

I tried really hard to join in the blue shirt party.

but it was no good, it didn't suit me, so I went for a new white shirt instead.....

and thinking of white I'm really missing this white rose from our old garden, as soon as I find somewhere who sells it we're getting one.

but I'm hugely excited that my orchid is flowering again

and so is the peace lilly

and out in the garden a tiny viola is holding it's own amongst the petunias,

these daisies are oh so cheerful

and I still can't bring myself to cut the lawn, there is so much more clover than there is grass and the bees are loving it....

recent posts seem to have turned into an colour series.
white was suggested by the lovely magic bean, what next?

blue

we used to tease my late father in-law about his fondness for blue shirts.

not just any blue though. preferably a nice light blue we called "bus driver blue"

on a recent visit we cleared out some of his things, and a selection of blue shirts came back with us, and were hung in J's wardrobe.

where they felt quite at home..................

like father, like son I suppose. it must be genetic.

I did once try to buy J a different colour. as you can see it wasn't a great success.....

thingummies

walking home from school with Miss K

Miss K "I got a thingummy today mummy"

me "pardon"

Miss K "I got a thingummy today mummy"

me "a what?"

Miss K "a thingummy"

try a different tactic. "how did you get that?"

Miss K "they told us in assembly, if you had been awarded one, or two or three thingies in a subject by your teacher for achievement then you had to go to Mr L and he would give you a thingummy. I got a pink one"

me "and what does the thingummy do?"

Miss K "you got to go to early lunch today, and tomorrow you can come in non uniform so then everyone will know you earned a thingummy"

I am very proud of Miss K, but I am guessing she didn't earn her thingummy for her vocabulary.

life is sweet

sometimes when you are baking for a charity fundraiser

and you try out new recipes

and have fun with a friend trying new techniques (sugared rose petals)

and experimenting with colour

and frosting flavours (these are cream cheese and white chocolate)

you wonder if perhaps you got a bit carried away..................
but it is worth it for a good cause. x
