harvest

I planted a crab apple tree when we moved in.

it's the tiniest of trees, more of a stick with leaves....

but look - a harvest! ok so I had to beg some extras from my mum's neighbour to have enough to make a few jars of jelly, but I'm sure it's my trees contribution that makes it so tasty xoxo

  1. My neighbor planted an apple tree a few years ago. The squirrels love to grab them and leave them in odd places on my porch--under cushions, lined up on the window sill, a few on the table. Cute little guys leaving me presents :)

  2. I seem to have got behind at reading your posts and just read the last two which really made me laugh! The stress of school cookery lessons for everyone concerned...!
Your little harvest of crab apples looks very sweet - I hope you have enough extras for some really delicious jelly!

  3. Harvest are always good, no matter how small! With us it seems to be marrows so there will be barrowloads of marrow chutney ...

  4. Aaaawwwwww, but it's a beautiful bounty and just think of all that jelly.

Crab apples are the one things we do not have in our garden or anywhere come to think of it.

    take care,

  5. Of course yours make it so tasty.

We have an olive (!!!!) on Smaller's tiny olive tree which she was given last year. Big asked me if I was going to stone it and marinade it with garlic and lemon...

  6. We don't have any sensible trees in our garden, lots of bindweed coming over from our neighbours which is nice though - not! I love your little crab apples. x

  8. I agree with Val: any harvest is cause for celebration! I've never tried crab apple jelly, but I imagine it's lovely.

  9. How terrific that you had this harvest after such a short time! Hope you have had fun making crab apple jelly - something I have never tried before. But I have finally got around to doing my 7 things. Sorry it has taken me so long. It's not been such a good time of late but it will pass!

  11. I've never had crab apple jelly. When I was a kid our neighbor had a crab apple tree, and I thought you didn't eat crab apples unless you wanted to be crabby!! Kids think the strangest things. :)

  13. It's so satisfying to have even the teeniest few things to eat from the garden isn't it? I think we had about twelve French beans. Still, they tasted delicious.
