I think I may have fallen into some sort of time vortex as the last two weeks have disappeared without me realising, and it is now far too late to do a last year round up, or a new years aspirations post, or just new years wishes, so instead how about some happy new knitting.
I've cast on a shawl using the sock yarn I bought at the knitting and stitching show, it's supposedly a very simple pattern, that uses yarn overs to create eyelets and to increase the shape. It was all going so well till I dropped the middle marker and then put it back in the wrong place...... oh well, I just have a unique placement of holes that's all.......
Mostly I am mesmerized by the colour changes, and enjoying watching it grow and grow.
Have you started any happy new projects?
Gorgeous yarn, love the colours. I have far too many projects on the go as I keep starting new ones without finishing the old ones! January feels like a good time for knitting though - cold, quiet and perfect for hibernating. Laura x
ReplyDeletebeautiful yarn...as to unique placement of holes...you intended to do that, at least that's how I'd explain it if anyone asked.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely rich colours. Too many projects and not enough time is my motto at the moment! I must get on and finish existing ones.....!
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous yarn. I'm trying to improve my knitting but I think your shawl is a tad tricky for me at the moment, and I'm impressed with the holes (irregular or not!).
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! XX
Oooo... loving the color way of that yarn, Tess! I just cast on for working up a knitted tea cosy for my sister. Also some new jewelry, that will go in my Etsy shop soon. So many ideas brewing... I hope to hop over this cold I have soon so I can get back to work. ;o) Happy Days ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful coloured yarn - I am always drawn to greeny bluey colours.
ReplyDeleteI'm steering clear of new projects until some old ones are a bit further advanced!
Colours are fab! As for the holes, don't worry, I always used to panic at things I'd got wrong but now I think it's what makes a creation individual. I'm crocheting some extra long fingerless gloves atm so that they nearly cover all my fingers but can be folded back when needed. This was prompted by frozen fingers recently on a trip out whilst trying to take photos. Suzy
ReplyDeleteLove these colours and the way they merge together. (I also missed my chance to do any kind of round-up of last year - Oh well!).
ReplyDeleteGorgeous yarn... and I believe the proper term for the unique hole placement you describe is "distinctive design element" :)
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you! xox
A shawl eh??? How chic. I am imagining you in lounge pants (whatever they are) and a plunging top with the bluey gorgeousness draped round your shoulders. Or else sitting in front of the fire with some granny slippers on your feet and your teeth in a glass next to you.
ReplyDeleteI have a knitting challenge for you if you are up for it. Will be in touch tomorrow (or perhaps later this month if I am honest) to see if you want to take me up on it. Ax
I know exactly what you mean about mezmerising. My knitting always goes faster when I have collude changes to anticipate. I love the colours of the wool you have chosen and hope you will be wearing the finished shawl very soon. T x
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty colours, and 'customising' patterns is all the rage ;D I'm sure it will be lovely !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours, what a treat to watch as you knit. Happy new year
ReplyDeleteI'm pants at crafts, but I do love yours and the colours are quite mesmerising.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Tess - sorry it's a little late. 2012 'wow' I'm still trying to get used to that one.
take care,
Nina xxxxx
I made a felted bowl. Except that it refused to felt.
ReplyDeleteLovely colours and a lovely project all round! Is it a gift for something just for you to keep you cosy in this cold and windy weather we are having? I am up to all sorts of projects as ever - still working on a crocheted blanket, knitting a scarf with some fabulous yarn to name just two!
ReplyDeleteLovely colors! Unique is good.
ReplyDeleteWhen am I not starting something new?The big question is, when am I going to finish something old?
Happy New Year.
Thanks for your comment Tess - I'm having trouble leaving comments too which is why I'm logged in as google instead of typepad. It didn't link back to you either. No idea what is going on but I think it is a more general error. I only realised it worked with google the other day and tried to leave you a comment here last week with no success.
ReplyDeleteLovely shawl by the way! Cathy XX
Ooh, I love the yarn you've chosen. Gorgeous colours! It looks like it should be snug when it's done ;-)
