in the supermarket at the weekend.
me: any idea what all these things with Valentines on are for?
J: I think it must be some Italian promotion.
me: so what's the deal with all the red, and the hearts everywhere?
J: oh that. It's British Heart Foundation Day on the 14th I think.
me: oh...... so why do we never celebrate it?
J: we're more of a Cancer Research UK or a Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research family..............
so for us here, it's just a normal Tuesday, to the rest of you, who are probably a bit more normal in the celebration traditions, have a very happy Valentines Day.
So glad to hear we are not alone in the valentine thing. Or rather the non valentine thing. Happy Tuesday to you drifties! Ax
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone - we don't bother much either. Although I may get some Thorntons chocs once they've been reduced!
ReplyDeleteAnd in Cornwall too! Although my daughter did insist we buy roses yesterday....
ReplyDeletebuying your own roses and chocs, now there's a good idea
ReplyDeleteOh me? I'll celebrate anything. Happy Valentines Day! Or Happy Tuesday! Either way it's good.
ReplyDeleteWe don't bother with Valentine's Day either - just an excuse for the shops to charge a fortune for flowers and chocs in my opinion!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe did have friends round to ours for tea today - but not because it's Valentine's Day, only because it was a day the 5 of us were free to get together!
Happy non-Valentine's Day to you!
Don't blame you, but at least it's a day we've always celebrated in the Uk and not one we've suddenly gone mad over...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was at Infant school we used to make cards to give to our classmates and I still remember who I got one from!!
has gone a bit mad especially in Supermarkets - we enjoyed lots of free chocs there though!
ReplyDeleteWe're more of a 'cancer' family than a 'heart' family too, though I happily support all charity shops regardless! Hope you had a Happy Tuesday with or without hearts!
ReplyDeleteCKx
You left a comment, I came to visit. You're now stuck with me.
ReplyDeleteWe are really slack at celebrating it here as well, though my husband brought home some chocolates. I managed to make chocolate beetroot cake, but only because it is half-term (loving it) and had to do something with the beetroot. (the cake turned out divine)
ReplyDeleteWe have always been rotten at it, and in fact I wasn't even at home with Mr DC this week, but I did have a lovely meal with my parents last night!
ReplyDeleteYou've made me giggle. I hope it was a happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteWe don't exactly go overboard either! Did go out for lunch, but that was more of a co-incidence really! xC
