the olympic torch

we had the most perfect evening for the visit of the Olympic torch to Northumberland. Please note the blue skies. ok I'll admit everyone is wearing coats and shivering, but it was dry! The grounds of the castle made a great venue for the arrival of the torch, which was used to light a giant cauldron on the stage.

next morning we were up early in the pouring rain to see the torch running out of town, it was an amazing experience, although if I'm truly honest I think the thing the children were most impressed with was the promise of hot chocolate when they got to a specially organised breakfast club at school.....

  2. The torch hits Suffolk next week - I'm going with the school I work out but don't hold out much hope of seeing anything.(I'll probably be taking endless streams of children to the loo all afternoon.)

  3. It;s in our area on July 7th - we just found out we didn't get tickets for the special torch edition of Blue Peter that's being held locally - but Barney and Helen will be there after the show so all is not lost! Ridiculously excited!

  5. How exciting! We certainly didn't have anything as spectacular as a castle for a backdrop when they torch came through our town in 2000 for the Sydney Olympics. It was a great party though!
