When you've been holidaying in the same place for many years there comes a reassuring pattern of activities,
places to rediscover,
favourite things to see and do,
(for me this includes much paddling in rock pools, I love how sometimes you discover one that is as warm a as a hot bath!)
and lots of hunting, for anemones and ammonites.
and for that special photograph that sums up the magic of a perfect summers day.
How wonderful, especially the ammonites. You make me wish for summer.
ReplyDeleteRockpools are the greatest, aren't they? Looks like you had a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteThat ammonite is amazing, I can't believe you just found it on the beach. When we were at Robin Hood's Bay I hunted for fossils several times and found not a sausage, had to buy one in a shop eventually. Where were you, or is it a secret?
ReplyDeletewe were in Staithes, which is north of Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay, it's a great place for fossil hunting, when we there in May I got some even better ones that I forgot to photograph...
Deletelovely. we so enjoy travelling and discovering new treasures, but i am enticed by the idea of establishing a family place we return to again and again - there is so much peace available when simply rediscovering the same spaces. evident in your photos.
ReplyDeleteIt would make my day/week/year to find an ammonite. My house is sadly lacking in fossils. Except this one typing this 'cos that's how I feel at the moment!!!
ReplyDelete...and you found time to post as well as all that other stuff???
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat a bit of rockpooling. Try putting a bit of mackerel gut in the pool and watch the beasties flock and fight over their supper...! Ax
Beautiful! And I love your rockpool description....I know just what you mean about finding one that feels like a warm bath :) I would love to find an ammonite!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.

My boys found some pools that they said were just like warm baths the other day :-). Very envious of the ammonite , excellent searching xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs, it really was the perfect place for rock-pooling.
ReplyDeleteIt is so beautiful, I miss the british coast line so much especially in the summer. I've never found an ammonite that is excellent! - Annie

DeleteHUGE ammonite, what a find.
ReplyDeleteAaah! Fond memories of rock-pooling. We have loads of fossils in the garden that the kids found back in another lifetime! xCathy
ReplyDeleteI always wonder what someone in years from now will think when they find the fossils in my garden, so far from where they were found, they will be oh so confused!
DeleteBeautiful images from your holiday, Tess... that last shop is breathtaking! Lovely to catch up with you after a brief hiatus! Happy Weekend (HUGS))
