rain is lashing down outside and the garden is drinking it up.
as the plants become wetter and wetter the air is filled with scent.
not a heady floral, or a woody overtone, but more of a colour.
green.
it smells green.
chlorophyll.
oxygen.
fresh and minty.
And that is precisely the smell I love.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how different everything is after some rain, and there is definitely a fresh clean smell in the air isn't there. I love green, it is the perfect outdoor backdrop for everything else! xx
ReplyDeleteI do love your 'colour' posts T, it makes me look around and notice a bit more here. Isn't mint supposed to be a fly deterrent? J x
ReplyDeleteMmm. Chlorophyll and mint. Sounds like a smoothly to me... x
ReplyDeleteI love this too. My front yard has lavender and sage in it and it smells lovely in the rain.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to describe smells Tess, but you have done it beautifully! X
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favourite smells, quite magical really! Almost makes the rain more acceptable in June!! ;)
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful.

Hi Tess,
ReplyDeleteLove all the pretty greens and everything looks wonderful after a drop of rain.
Bet the mint smells lovely - healthy plant.
Hope all is well with you and enjoy the new week
Carolyn
Oooh, what beautiful shades of green -- they need to be in a quilt!
ReplyDeleteI do love a bit of rain in summer. It refreshes things and makes everything lush again. The smell of damp earth and wet foliage together is therapeutic somehow - perfect for going out walking.
ReplyDeleteSarah.
It's one of the things I've noticed since moving North. The rain may be lashing but everything is so lunch and green. Just beautiful.
