ok, so let's gloss over the 2 month absence and look at some lovely August happenings, list courtesy of Hawthorn Spellweaver.
eye - I may be little but I'm watching you....
feet - my feet are a bit scary....
button - a button like flower? happily growing in my garden. along with the nettles and the creeping buttercups..... which sound pretty, but trust me, you don't want them.....
something handmade - well I made these skeins, and I made the most incredible tangle in the process. does that count?
green - the lakeland fells, as seen whilst supervising a Queen's guide expedition. So green. So beautiful. And in case you're wondering, that water - So cold...... also pond weed. and possibly a lake shark....
glass - sweetie jars in an old fashioned shop on the Yorkshire coast that would be well suited to a home on Diagon Alley. (Harry Potter fans will understand....)
floor - the paths at Saltburn are embellished with fossils, Huge ones!
blue - skies above Whitby Abbey. We were so lucky with the weather this year. Glorious.
Favourite - my favourite holiday destination. We've been to the same cottage for 8 years now, I checked in the visitors book.
my choice - the view from Holy Island. or lack thereof. Still gorgeous.
August you were lovely. xxx
Oh what a beautiful selection - August has been wonderfully captured by your images and words - so glad you joined in :) My favourite? The mystical magical image from the Holy Isle with the view just disappearing into the mist. Lovely.
ReplyDeletethank you! that mystical view was just perfect x
DeleteWhat a lovely month you've had. A lake shark?!!! xx
ReplyDeleteit's fun to pick out the monthly highlights like this. A lake shark is a long standing family joke, it started off as a quarry shark....
DeleteWonderful. Glad you've had a good holiday x
ReplyDeleteit was a lovely holiday thank you, filled with family, friends and just the odd bit of feasting....
DeleteWhat a wonderful month you've had. It's lovely to return to a favourite spot isn't it. We did that for the first time this year and loved it. So glad you've had a good summer. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteSounds and looks like a good August. Love the sweetie shop, but my favourite has to be your favourite holiday destination, not surprised you keep going back, gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteA lovely photo journey through August. I didn't know lakes could have sharks... well you learn something new every day!
ReplyDeleteI am always tempted by those old-fashioned sweet shops. I'll take a bag of liquorice wands please! x
lake sharks are a family myth! as are bath sharks, quarry sharks, and pool sharks....
Deletewe bought liquorice root. the children overwhelmingly hated it. I love it x
That's a rather lovely photographic catch up!
ReplyDeleteLovely photographs. Especially Whitby abbey. I am a big fan of Whitby. X
ReplyDeleteWhitby is one of my favourite places in the world. if only it was a bit quieter...
DeleteWhat a great set of photos; brilliant interpretation of Hawthorn's list. So hard to choose my favourite one but will say it is the big fossil.
ReplyDeletelooks like august has been a good month!
ReplyDelete(how do you make skeins? I've got some cones and I need to wash the yarn but I need to make skeins first... don't think it would be a good idea to dunk a whole cone in the bath!!)
That looks like an August worth remembering. Love that last misty photograph. xx
ReplyDeleteStunning, they don't miss a trick those eyes xxx Glad to see you back from your bloggy break x
ReplyDeletethank you Faith, I missed it here x
DeleteWhat a fabulous set of pictures :). When you next go shopping in Diagon Alley, please take me with you . . .
ReplyDeleteWhitby is on our 'list' - but it is a long list!
What a lovely set of photos, thanks for sharing. Hard to choose, but think my favourite is the lakeland fells as it's also one of my favourite places and you've captured the greens and blues of the fading horizon perfectly.
ReplyDeletethose fells are the most beautiful of places. xxx
DeleteI love Whitby too, it was my local town for a year ;). It wasn't busy all the time! I am glad you have had a lovely August
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived closer we used to visit in the winter - much quieter! xxx
DeleteAugust looks like a good month - time outdoors, beautiful scenery, holidays, plus lovely photos of them all. I hope September is kind. xx
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing your month distilled this way, Tess. The photos are beautiful. I especially loved that owl! What a beautiful face. Owls are so interesting to me. I particularly enjoy barn owls. I loved the candy shop photo too. I would really enjoy a visit there, if only to look at the jars all lined up so neatly, it's very visually pleasing.
ReplyDeleteYAY! You're back!!! Those little owls are beautiful! It looks like you've had a wonderful summer - especially if it involved a visit to a candy shop!!! ;-D
ReplyDeleteThe candy shop is brilliant; I think I need one of those near me!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Finally have some internet and am on catch-up. Of course I do love your owl pics, but then the sweet shop and Whitby come in close too. Take care.
ReplyDeletesweets seem to be the winner with lots of people x
DeleteGreat pictures...I enjoyed them all. The sweetie shop is probably my favourite one! Love the little owls...we saw some this summer up close....they were both very pretty and rather scary at the same time!

I love the cross-patch little owl. They have such character for a tiny bird. Lovely photos, particularly the Abbey. Looks like an excellent August. I seemed to spend August working which was very disappointing!!
