the importance of photos

I've looked at a LOT of photographs these past 2 1/2 weeks.

crinkled old photos found in a cupboard with people on them who we're not sure whose who.
newspaper photo clippings with teams smiling after another football victory.
wedding photos with smiling faces.
holiday snaps taken to record memories of a brief moment in time.
proud photo moments; holding the first grandchild, giving the father of the bride speech, cutting an anniversary cake.
generation photos, where we've tried to capture as many of a family as we can at once.

but there's not enough........................... and I've realised that whilst I've been trying for years to get that perfect shot of a sunset or a poppy opening, or frost on a cobweb; whilst beautiful these aren't the photos that are important to me right now........

this one though is right, this one is perfect.

  1. It certainly is perfect. I remember reading somewhere that as mums these days we take endess photos of our children and our partners, and there's a danger there will be no photos of us for future generations. I try to get in front of the camera from time to time, even if I'd rather be at the dentist having my teeth scaled...

  4. That is such a beautiful image

When my great uncle died a few years ago there were suddenly far fewer pictures of him than I'd thought necessary and far too many of rocks, monuments and scene scapes and I know my family felt the same. I think it might be part of what prompted my mum to start a history wall with pictures of people I've never met but who have had such an impact on the people who impact me

I hope you are as well as you can be during this time, my thoughts are with you
