Hiding in the garden, in amongst the leaves I found this tiny purple viola, all on it's own, smiling away with it's cheerful little face.
This pansy, so much bigger and brighter is even cheerier, but somehow I prefer the delicate little unassuming viola. This week they have enjoyed glorious spring sunshine, whilst I've been stuck inside with a filthy cold and a child with a chest infection. Start of the school holidays, everyone is feeling better, and the Met Office website is forecasting severe weather warnings of snow and sleet for the next few days. I am really really hoping it is an April Fool, otherwise plans will change to include pyjama days, baking bonanza's and plenty of hot chocolate.
Have you got any nice plans for the week ahead? Hope the weather is kind for you.
I always think that pansies and violas look rather grumpy in a whiskery-old-man kinda way. They are rather gorgeous though. And it is always good to see things growing of their own accord. I am just recovering from the sister and her family staying for three days. My flower beds are looking a bit flat and squished after the football has been smashed into them relentlessly by NephewBean. Hope the met officeis joking about the snow. But think how delicious a week of pjs and baking and dvds would be.... Ax
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're all better in time for the holidays, shame to have missed the gorgeous weather though. I hope you have a good time, will be interesting to see what the weather brings. So far it's just much colder but at least still dry and sometimes sunny!
ReplyDeleteHello Tess, lovely splash of purple in the garden, I love Pansies and Violas, such sweet little flowers....
ReplyDeleteHope the forecast is wrong for the coming week, bit of a cruel joke after the lovely weather you've been having. But the thought of PJ days, baking and hot chocolate sounds rather enjoyable too.
Glad you are all feeling better, pretty miserable to be sick durinng your hols....
Have a great week,
Claire :}
beautiful photos as usual. Brrrr hope it's an Apri Fool :(
ReplyDeleteIt's seeing lovely flowers like these that make me wish I was a gardener. My efforts last briefly though before I lose interest. I hope that it was an April Fool weather report and you get to enjoy some of that gorgeous weather over the school hols. xx Susan

Rather rotten to be stuck inside sick when your weather has been so lovely. Let's hope it holds a little longer so you can enjoy some.
ReplyDeleteLove violas and pansies. Love purple.
Have a great week,
Anne xx
If the weather here is anything to go by it wasn't an April Fool ... how annoying, not to have recovered before the sun goes! But hopefully your pyjama days will bring lots of cosy fun and you'll know that somewhere out in the garden that sweet little flower is still smiling :D
ReplyDeleteThe smiley face of the viola and pansy are among the sweetest of the spring blooms, aren't they? At nights it's still chilly here, so I've not bought any new flowers yet. But soon the garden daffs & tulips will be in bloom--can't wait! Happy Easter, Tess :o) ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteYour little flowers are so pretty! It's happened just the same way here -- the week before the spring school break was gorgeous and warm -- now it's break week and everything is chilly again. Mother Nature does have a sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you've been poorly. The sun is still shining here but brrr it's chilly. I could do without any more wintry weather thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteThe little violas are so sweet, I love them too. Sorry you've been poorly, hope you soon feel fine again and have a good week.

I love violas, although I insist upon calling them Johnny Jump-ups. Sure hope ALL of you are better soon. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLovely smiley violas! Hope you're all recovered from illnesses now. Really enjoying your lovely blog, looking forward to seeing more!
ReplyDeleteOh the pansy photo is gorgeous! So glad you're feeling better in time for the holidays. Now just hope the weather is cooperating...!

Poor you! It was hailing here yesterday - weird things are happening.
ReplyDeleteI have pale lilac coloured pansies in all my spring containers but never seem to do very well with violas - hey ho you can't have everything.
