usually I am a goddess of the last minute, and leave getting ready for anything to the last possible date, and then burn myself out in a mad panic.
this time I have decided (ok Mr Driftwood has politely suggested using a different strategy) that we will be organized, and start packing non essentials now.
so we aquired a stash of supplies
that now looks like this...
Alice sent me a very helpful link explaining about packing, and the importance of labelling, so I asked the children to decorate their boxes so we knew whose they were.
I am not sure they quite understood the concept, but no doubt it will make the removal van driver smile.
I feel for you, I really do. Make sure you don't pack the kettle by mistake ...
ReplyDeleteHaha - thanks for the chuckle. Love the Wallace and Gromit stickers...
ReplyDeleteI'm with Val - make sure the chocolate stays out of those boxes, too. xoxo
I love the stickers - children have such a lovely way of interpreting things.

My goodness, label them they did! I am so glad that I don't have to move any more, unless I want to. Hope it all goes very smoothly.

Packing generally stinks...I've been packing up my classroom for weeks now. If only I had someone to help me label...
ReplyDeleteoh i love how childrens minds work :-)
ReplyDeletegood luck with the packing - im completely OTT with organising and had a spreadsheet and colour coding for rooms and everything! how embarrassing!
Lx
that's a flylady link, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAlice, I officially love you even more.
I'm a last minute person too. Nothing would get done without a deadline here! It feels good to be organised on the odd occasion it actually happens!! I would be very proud if it was me! Good luck with it. You have all my sympathy! We still have boxes in the loft from when we moved 3 years ago!!! Haven't got a clue what's in them, heehehe. It will be like Christmas when we finally open them. Labelling is definitely the way forward. All the best with it :-) x
ReplyDeleteI really love the stickers!
ReplyDeleteHope the rest of the packing is as fun!
oh cute!
ReplyDeleteseriously, very very sweet.
now packing is OK but unpacking for me is pure hell!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that it was a useful link and led to fun for children despite the feeling of panic for the adults
ReplyDeleteTerrific start...very impressive too! And don't you feel better for getting that early jump on the packing? ;o) Those sticker-covered boxes are wonderful--so sweet! But, yes, do be sure to keep chocolate and all other goodies close to hand--you will need them until the moving van turns up! When we moved last time, we really organized in advance and it was great not to have to stress so as we were moving some distance away. The van drive said were the most organized people they'd ever seen with so neat, tidy and ready boxes--LOL! But do hope all goes well with the move soon. And thanks so much for stopping be with your congratulations--3 year in blogland had been super! Happy Days ((HUGS))
ReplyDeletepacking! how exciting!
ReplyDeleteI say this as a woman who any day now will be in a similar boat and hate it... but the dream lives on!
xxx
ps. can you send them round to decorate boxes for me? might help me want to pack!
Good luck with the move Tess, and the packing, you're very sensible being so organised! Very organised children you have too!
ReplyDeleteLove Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)
You look like you've made a good start! And excellent labelling!
