Happy November

Goodbye October, I can't say I'll miss you. You were rather too full of doctors appointments for a child with unexplained stomach pain, and opticians and meetings and migraines and damp. I did love the blue skies at the start of the month, and the grey fog is very melodramatic and makes for wonderful spider webs with water droplets, and I did eat an awful lot of cake and have a wonderful weekend away with a friend, but you're still not my favourite month. Sorry....

So November what will you bring?

I'm happy about "parsnip appreciation day", although I certainly don't want the children to start appreciating them, they're the one vegetable I don't insist they eat, the parsnips are mine, all mine.....
I can admit that I'll "get excited about fireworks day", we're lucky enough to be able to watch a public display from just outside the house, it's at the bottom of the hill, we get a great view, and can stand with steaming mugs of soup and watch and ooh and ahh to our hearts delight,
Most of all I'm looking forward to "don't worry about anything day"
Happy November, I hope it's kind to you.
What are you looking forward to?

  2. Parnsip appreciation would not go down well in this house, they are my daughters least favourite vegetable. Don't worry about anything seems like a good mantra to have all the time.........hope the stomach aches have an explanation now?

  10. Yay! It's turn the calendar day. I LOVE your sweet little calendar. I REALLY need the finish a book I've been reading forever -- because I have been reading one forever and it's ridiculous. Maybe I'll make this the month I move on LOL. Sorry to hear October wasn't great -- hoping everyone is feeling better and that your November will be great!!!

  13. I have enjoyed and the unseasonal warmth of October. On the 31st I was out and about in a t-shirt.... marvellous....
I also love parsnips and have just bought a bag of parsnip crisps, yummy.
My daughter has only just come round to fireworks, she would normally be found hiding inside with the cats, mainly because she doesn't do loud bangs. We couldn't even do sparklers in the garden with all the fireworks going off locally. So I am looking forward to fireworks and lots of birthdays, November is the busiest month for birthdays for us. And that means cake...yay!

  14. I am sorry you had such a rubbish October. Mine was a bit of a blur to be honest. I adore fireworks displays and all that they signify at this time of year. I can't get excited about Halloween but Bonfire night is always wonderful. I hope your November holds lots of small pleasures for you. x

  15. I'm a recent convert to parsnips and I like them. Watch your teeth on that toffee apple, though; we were at a school event a couple of weeks ago, eating caramel apples, and I said to my husband, "I hope this doesn't pull out my crown," and seconds later, my son yelled, "My tooth!" He had pulled out one of his loose baby teeth with his caramel apple and almost ended up swallowing it. Yikes. I hope November is a great month for you and your family. :)

  16. I do so like the beginning of a new month, the plans and possibilities. I look forward to cooler weather, to scarves and soup, to long evenings and chilly mornings, to walking in the rain. I like your mini calendar.

  21. Worry about NOTHING? What on earth are we to do with our time?

  22. I hope it was good to you! Wasn't the best month round here and I'm feeling the same way you did about October, glad to see the back of it. Although that does unfortunately also mean there's now less time to get organised for Christmas.
