five on friday - the festive version.

Five random things from the last week, all with a vague festive theme. joining in Amy's five on Friday.

1. Snowdrifts of cream and ice cream - Miss K's birthday celebrations.

 2. Real Snowdrifts! The perfect visitor at the guide and ranger Christmas weekend away, a four hour blizzard which left huge amounts of perfect snowman making snow, and then stopped just before all the adults got into a total panic about being snowed in, in the middle of nowhere with 16 guides and rangers, and not enough food for a prolonged stay..... Truly magical.

3. Of the many crafts provided over the weekend this was the one I was most surprised by. Take one polystyrene ball, a bag of sequins and the tiniest pins in the world and sit and poke them in. Mesmerizing, addictive, fiddly, frustrating (I dropped oh so many sequins), controversial (everyone else turned their sequins so the curved side moulded around the ball, but I liked the sticking out look....), exactly the perfect craft when you know you have a billion things to do, but you're in a farm house in the middle of nowhere, with a blanket of snow covering everything and no wifi and so what you do is just sit and chat and select the next sequin!

4. In contrast to the bauble, this was the quickest craft ever, take one bunch of holly, add a ribbon and a tangle of Christmas beads, and loop over the outside lamp instead of a wreath on the door.

5. Holy toast.  Just because.

Happy Friday. I am so glad you're here. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

  1. Love the sequin bauble, I did something similar with buttons with my Grandaughters. So much snow, all we have had is rain, rain and more rain. Have a great Christmas.

  2. Wonderful, the weekend away sounds quite magical, although no doubt fairly hard work as well. The sequin bauble sounds most relaxing and therapeutic. I hope Miss K had a fantastic birthday. Have a lovely weekend Tess. CJ xx

  6. Crafting, snow, delightful natural posy making along with sparkly sequin balls - what's not to love! I can't believe you have snow. It has been SO mild here the birds think it is Spring!
By the way, I wonder where you bought your mini mantra calendar? I had a quick google but nothing came up. Hope you have a lovely Christmas Tess.

  9. Five lots of goodness!! I love the holy toast, that is so funny! I think that your sequins are the right way round, that is what I would have done! In fact I always assumed that was the way round that they went. They have more sparkly edges that way! Thank you for joining Five On Friday and making it a great thing this year. I so appreciate it! Happy Christmas! See you again in 2016! xx

  15. We had that snow too it was fun wasn't it. It did at least make the world seem brighter for a few days as it came with blue skies too. Now the rain and grey is back again :(. Love your sequinned ball and can see that would be perfect activity for a snowy afternoon.

  17. I love your sequin ball, it is my kind of craft. Oh heck! I would have been in a blind panic if I was you in the blizzard, not enough food, other people's children - yikes! However, I love the snowman and would have loved to have seen it. Merry Christmas to you and yours xxx

  18. I want to make a sequin bauble now. I may just have to order the bits and bobs for next year. We broke a few of our glass baubles yesterday and new (sequinned) ones would be perfect. So much snow in your parts of the world. It was 12 degrees centigrade earlier today when I left the house! Have a lovely week. x

  19. Lovely :-}. But I want to know what you did with the holes? (if you know what I mean)

  20. I think I would be demented trying to make a sequin ball- I would get all in a knot about the sequence of colours (I'm not good at 'random'). If I could make one all one colour I'd be fine! I love the simple christmas posy, looks so beautiful. A crafting weekend away sounds like sheer bliss! X

  22. Jealous of your snow down here too! Nothing close so far, just rain, rain and more rain, and now mud, mud and more mud. But I expect you've had plenty of that too. Love your sequin bauble, I bet it looked amazing on the tree with fairy lights around it.
