mitt envy

it's definitely feeling Novemberish here in the North. time to start piling on the layers, and thinking of walks as bracing.

only problem I have with walks is that I am so horribly unfit at the moment I end up getting hot and out of breath, and hating all of the layers. walking up the hill to the house doesn't help. so I start shedding layers, which is fine except my fingers still turn an interesting shade of blue.
solution - fingerless gloves! I have just knitted these for a friend for Christmas, the colours are perfect for her, but I really need to get going with the pair that is for me, otherwise she won't get them.........

the pattern is called mit envy, it's a free ravelry download, and as a cable novice I really enjoyed them and they were quite quick.

I think they will work just perfectly or taking part in Silverpebbles making winter series.

  4. Those mitts are so pretty. I can knit (a bit), but knitting in the round, especially with double pointed needles causes me to pull my hair out! One of these days I'll get it.
Thank you for the kind comment you left on my blog. It is a pleasure to "meet" you.

  6. Beautiful! They would be great for snappers like me. Cameras and gloves don't mix, so its usually a choice between leaving the camera at home or frostbite...

  8. Love those mittens - the colours are gorgeous - is it the self patterning yarn?

You & me both for being unfit at the moment - I can only dream of being able to walk into town and back - perhaps next year!

  14. Arran sweaters, Fair Isle,Kaffe Fasset patterns, and a Shetland shawl so fine it can be pulled through a wedding ring...my mother was a wonderful knitter. But I don't knit! (Too hard an act to follow maybe?)

And I could do with a pair of those lovely mittens..
