- I've nearly finished making all the blocks for the star quilt, I'm just putting on a border now which will mean there are no incomplete stars disappearing off the edge. Only 256 squares left to sew on, unless I change my mind about the design again - which is in all truth quite likely
- The children have a training day, before next weeks half term. I made good use of them and took them with me to help clean two holiday cottages that a friend usually cleans but she has broken her foot............ If only they were as enthusiastic about hoovering and mopping at home, I suppose the fact that I bribed them with wages helped.......
- I've been taking E to reflexology to help with his migraines. The therapist is used to treating children, she must be bemused by E's huge size 10 feet.
- My niece will be 9 this weekend, we're going to go and eat birthday cake. I do like cake. Have I mentioned that before?
- I made the most enormous pan of carrot soup last night. Carrot soup is my favourite, but I am slightly concerned everyone in the family will go orange if I feed them it them too often.
- Have you got any nice plans for half term? - we have to finish building a paper mache volcano, as you do...... oh and we have some leftover soup to eat.

I don't like carrot soup! But I do make it for my daughter who eats it by the gallons. I look forward to seeing your quilt, I make many quilts - in my head only. I can't bring myself to cut into my fabric. No plans for the weekend apart from puppy training. Enjoy yours. x
ReplyDeleteI have fabric I can't bring myself to cut up either, it could be why I make scrap quilts.... x
DeleteI like carrot soup, especially with red lentils thrown in... a few potatoes and it gets really hearty!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the cake :)

A light orange tinge will be fine for the winter, so enjoy the soup. And the cake too. No amazing half term plans here, but I'm looking forward to a nice week of being together. I hope you have a good one too. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteYummy! And is the reflexology working??
ReplyDeleteCarrot soup ... yum. Carrot and cardamom ... equally yum. Carrot and ginger ... yum, yum! If you do end up slightly orange you could also claim to have been holidaying in the sun!
ReplyDeleteCarrot soup, hmmmm, there is a strong possibility that you will all turn orange. What an exciting thought! :) Yes you have mentioned before you like cake. Shall I make you one? Size 10 feet on a child quite possibly means he is going to be a tall lad. Be prepared to stock up the pantry with food for those growing years. :) Enjoy the volcano making.
ReplyDeleteAnne xx
I relate to the size 10 feet, my 12 year old has feet the same size. They are so endearing! Carrot soup, with you there, though I always put lentils in it too. x
ReplyDeletemmm I like lentils in it too x
DeleteWhen my brother was a baby, he actually did have an orange face because my mother fed him carrots every day. She took him to the doctor once and he told her, "Ma'am, you have an orange baby!" I was about nine at the time and I thought this was so hilarious. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can't mention loving cake often enough. Cake is an important part of life, as far as I'm concerned :-)
ReplyDeletecake really is an important part of life, I quite agree x
DeleteI once ate a large tub of haliborange but sadly didn't turn orange. My tongue was VERY orange though!
ReplyDeleteI've done a week of half term already. Now I have a week with both home and then a partial third week with the one who was still at school last week. Aaaaargh. We have managed a trip to Ikea and the construction of an English Civil War costume. I feel quite heroic.
ReplyDeleteHey, maybe you could combine two items from your list and shoot carrot soup out of the volcano -- you know, in cast you can't consume all of the carrot soup yourselves LOL! I can't wait to see your finished quilt top!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd personally, I think Cake should be one of the basic food groups. If "I" were in charge, it would be the largest category on the food pyramid!
I think the weather here is St Ives is going to be a mixed bag. I've got lovely things like orthodontists and dental appointments lined up. Nothing I like more than sat in a stuffy waiting room with three squabbling boys. Here's hoping that yours in excellent.

Turning orange at this time of year is entirely appropriate, don't you think? I do love carrot soup as well.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely week. xo
I'm looking forward to seeing the quilt, lovely fabric
ReplyDeletei was munching on a piece of apple cake as i pulled up your post! cake! yummmm. but the carrot soup sounds equally yummy! I'll take a chance on the orange complexion!
ReplyDeleteit was really tasty, and we haven't turned orange yet, but I've bought more carrots so there's still time.............
DeleteSounds like a lovely half term! They're a thing of the past for us now - seems like yesterday though! XCathy
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your quilt, Tess. Star quilts--love the star quilts. VERY funny with the carrot soup. ;o) Hope the reflexology is/will help E. ((HUGS))
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see your quilt!
ReplyDeleteWe had a nice half term here, thank you... busy but nice... the best kind.. and the weather is amazing... almost too nice for this time of year... I wonder how/when we'll pay for it!
(I like carrot soup too!)
Love cake and soup. I make mine with a touch of orange juice. Definately getting to soup weather now. Cake weather is all the time :)). Hope you had a good half term, we were to busy for a coast trip (even if Whitley Bay is just down the road) I have a real hankering for Alnmouth right now!
ReplyDeleteorange juice sounds good, I've added a squeeze of lemon before, I shall try orange next time x Hope you get to the coast soon x
DeleteI love random lists...they're so random :)
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with carrot soup although I tend to make carrot and corriander. I also love cake of course well who doesn't. And I can remember the days of papier mache volcano's for school projects. Thankfully were passed that all now, but give me a little more time and I could start and miss the mess, chaos and mayhem of it all.
ReplyDeleteCarrot soup is yum, lovely and autumny and if your family did turn orange that would have been perfect for Halloween dressing up! Looking forward to seeing more of your quilt. Hope your half term was good x
