I normally have a family calendar that has a column for every person, and huge squares to write everything down, with a distinct pattern so I can see when Friday is coming. Which I forgot to buy........
So this year the kitchen calendar has tiny spaces, in a long row.
But it will be ok for it is filled with helpful and interesting tips to make the most of January. So far we've been advised to give in to legwarmers, pogo stick to work, try to do a press up and fail, and to break a resolution in spectacular style.
As well as the advise in the mini mantra we will on the upcoming days be sure to look on the bright side, start a trend, celebrate the banana, and have an experimental cooking day.
Here goes, I will notice the mini things and love you anew January.
do you have any tips for loving January that are better than these?
I love your calendar with all the advice! I don't mind January one bit, I like the cosy nights, and never mind staying indoors! Pottering about inside whilst the rain and sleet lash the windows is one of my favourite things! X
ReplyDeleteoh yes being cosy inside when the weather is foul outside is lovely x
DeleteI don't know if it can get any better than celebrating the banana and cooking experimentally!
ReplyDeleteI love the calendar, what a great saying. I do struggle to like January though.
ReplyDeletethere are lots of funny sayings each month x
DeleteYour calendar sounds great. I am still not quite in Jnauary mode. Ane by the time I am it will be Feb.
ReplyDeleteRosezeeta.
Brilliant! I have a terribly efficient and organised calendar that tells me to buy my Christmas presents in October and finalise the menu in November. Of course I ignore it all. I'm a big fan of January. All that beautiful light, winter walks, open countryside and a warm cosy home to come back to. Love it. I hope you have a good week Tess. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteI am always searching for the right way to run a calendar for our family and have tried many things over the years. I am actually going to do a post today about this as I think - think!! - that I have found a good way for it to work for us. I love the little suggestions on your calendar, certainly some fun inspirations and definitely things to raise a smile each day which is lovely isn't it! xx
ReplyDeleteMy calendar has photos from last year's holidays and little squares to write in - hopeless for days when we all have something to do but the photos are great and remind me of sunshine and happy days. I'm liking your inspirational calendar, I like to be reminded to do daft things from time to time.
ReplyDeleteMy tip for January is to give into the urge to sleep and light lots of candles, but not at the same time as that wold be dangerous!
I like the mini mantra for January. We've had a shaky start to the New Year with a few mini disasters and it's a good idea for me to look for joy in the little good things we do have.
ReplyDeleteI have managed to get two calanders this year and you can bet that Iwill forget to write on either of them. However, I will love the pictures, one is the Yarndale calander and the other by the artist Sue Fenlon. So in my haze of forgetfulness I can smile at the pictures and get a fuzzy warm glow from them. January Pah!
ReplyDeletegazing at the lovely pictures is much better than writing down dentist appointments x
DeleteI LOVE that -- how fun!!! And I see no reason why you can't pogo stick to work -- we were driving in to work today -- in the dark with blowing, drifting, snow-covered roads and there was a guy on a bike, all bundled up! I have no idea how he was managing to propel that bike in the snow, but he was chugging along!
ReplyDeleteUtterly brilliant, love it. I think a calendar or anything else for that matter that can bring a smile to your face in this month of grey is wonderful :) I hope you are going to share the mini mantras for each month?
ReplyDeleteOh for the roaring fire! X
ReplyDeleteI've always loved it as it's the month of my birth :)
ReplyDeleteTwiggy
oh yes, that's a good excuse for cake. I like the end of the month as that's our wedding anniversary x
DeleteThat is a very positivie mantra. I like January, it feels like a fresh start and it's cold here, so I really savor that and look back later when it's much too hot.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic calendar! Who makes it?
ReplyDeleteA reason to legitimately eat pie sounds good to me! What a great mantra, and for all the year round, not just 'difficult' January. xCathy Happy New Year Tess!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't better your calendar.
ReplyDeleteI could get behind celebrating the banana!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful calendar! I love the positive mantra. And I like your idea of an experimental cooking day! My main aim usually in January is to keep busy and keep cosy :)
ReplyDeleteHappy week, Tess.

Pogo stick to work. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteJillxo
just as long as it's not TOO far!
DeleteI like January. I can still hunker down, but there is the feeling that Spring really is around the corner. I shall think of you when I celebrate the banana at breakfast tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteLeanne xx
banana eaters of the world, I call upon you to celebrate it x
DeleteI couldn't find a family calendar anywhere this year and I'm missing it already. I love yours, it looks like you're going to have a fun year. Actually, I think I might have calendar envy. xx
ReplyDeleteit's is very funny, I can't wait for next month x
Deletelike it. like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteI have the warmest boots in the world. I will survive.
warm boots, oh I need some of those x
DeleteI have the self-same one, brilliant isn't it!
ReplyDeleteTip for a chilly afternoon ... cuddle a whippet, they're so toasty warm.
What a VERY FUN calendar! Mine is rather boring in style, but I'm using colorful pens to cheer it up--and me too. ;o) Not sure about the pogo stick, for I'm sure I'd fall over... LOL! But the more "gentle" encouragements I could definitely handle. This weekend it's mulled cider by the fire after a weath of stormy weather and thoroughly enjoy being indoors! Happy Weekend, Tess ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteOh I like your calendar, I wonder who came up with that inspired idea? I bet you can't wait to see February's suggestions!
