I love June.
It is filled with roses blooming and birthdays and the longest day and cake.
My mum's name is June. June Rose in fact. Her birthday is in June, and mine, and the husbands.
lots of birthday cake needed then.
according to my calendar we must also celebrate
extreme enthusiasm day - for cake?
wild abandon day - reckless cake eating?
treat your body like a temple day - an hour without cake?
treat your body like a cake machine day - if you insist!
so there we have it. June is clearly my favourite month. what's yours?
It would have to be May although May just past was a bit of a bummer. I can recommend rolling down a grassy slope. It is fun but the children find it a bit embarassing. Leaping of a zip glide is good fun, too. Enjoy all the cake! x
ReplyDeleteI was going to say the very same thing! Usually May (roses! my birthday!), but this one was sort of eh. Tess, your calendar sounds fab -- I think I need it. Not so sure about the mini mantra. Pontificating? Wearing flip flops (I HATE having something rubbing between my toes)? Still, the paddling and pottering and stargazing and wondering all sound pretty solid. Enjoy! xxx
Deletelol, lovely, such june-like exuberance in your words.
ReplyDeletei'm a cold-weather girl i'm afraid. but as a mama i especially appreciate the long sunny days of summer.
I know it won't get too hot so June is perfect for me. x
DeleteI try not to think about which is my favourite month because I might get all tragic when it is over but I do have a fondness for March - lambs! primroses! chocolate! I think that I will aspire to fitting mini-loveliness into every day in June. Get going on those birthday cakes.
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of June your way Tess - reckless cake eating? I'm in!
ReplyDeletereckless cake eating is the best x
DeleteI like it when it starts to turn colder and the leaves are turning so although I don't have a favourite month if pushed I would say September. It is the time when the boots come out, when you know it is going to get colder and the cardigans get heavier with long sleeves. And as it is getting colder you need to ensure you fend off colds..... cake would be good for that.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of this June though, when it said 'roll down something' for some reason trousers came to mind.... maybe I was thinking waistbands.....cake......urgh!
I'm coming round to June after reading your post. National cake appreciating month? Well, a week wouldn't be long enough would it? J x
ReplyDeleteI always knew that I liked June, now I know why.

No sign of blue skies and cotton wool clouds yet! Perhaps I should cheer myself up with some cake?! Have a happy month. xx
ReplyDeleteyes you absolutely should! x
DeleteI love June too! It's finally warm. The leaves and blossoms are finally out. (I live in Canada) The days are long. Plus, it will soon be my birthday. Many good reasons! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight to celebrate all of those birthdays...and with all of that cake. My mother's name was May. I always giggled at the story she told about when she was in high school and there was a classmate who's name was May June. The dubbed her May June Almost July.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll pass on the rolling down something as the last time I did that, I fractured my leg!
Best of June to you.
xo
June sounds good round your neck of the woods! And perhaps the treat your body like a temple day could be a day when you only eat carrot cake, or one of those chocolate cakes with grated courgette perhaps? It's definitely one of my favourite months, along with July and August. In some ways I prefer those later 2 months since they're full blown holiday time, but then in June I love the anticipation of the holiday time.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I love June too. Birthday cake will be baked here this week, and seven candles found from the birthday cake bits and bobs tin. The excitement is palpable. No flipflops yet though... Wishing you and yours a wonderful month. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteI'm a Gemini too! In the absence of sunshine - bring on cake!
ReplyDeleteoh! you get to celebrate with cake too! x
DeleteHey Tess,
ReplyDeleteI like June. And July. August gets too packed in St Ives, but you can find a quiet place on the beach in June. Apart from when it's raining. Which it has all day.
Leanne xx
it rained all day here too. I hope there is sun soon for you to find a quiet spot on the beach x
DeleteIs there any other way to eat cake? If there is, I don't want to know. I hope you have a wonderful summer.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you have a great June with a lot of reckless cake eating! After all, there is your Mum's birthday so that surely needs lots of cake!!! xx
ReplyDeleteCake seems to play a big part in your life - not a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteSpring is birthday season in our family, so I like May, but am also very found of September, which always makes me feel nostalgic for the summer just gone, and the first flutter of excitement for Christmas! I love that you have kept on sharing your calendar with us every month Tess X
ReplyDeleteoh so many celebrations (and associated cakes!) ahead. and I need your calendar if it comes bearing so many cake-based appointments xx
ReplyDeleteLots of cake on the forecast then - let's hope we get some sunshine too! I'm not sure if I have a favourite month but I'm definitely more of a summer girl than a winter one. Judy.
ReplyDeletehappy days of sunshine ahead I hope x
DeleteI like your June ambitions! I shall adopt some of them.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, adopt the cake eating!
DeleteI LOVE how you relate everything to CAKE -- you're my kind of girl!!! And I'm thinking you need to come and visit me. It would count as your visit three places you've never been -- in fact, we could hit up all three -- how many of your friends have been to nowhereville in the middle of the US??? ;-D
ReplyDeleteJune is a good month, Happy June to you xxx
ReplyDeleteHappy June, Tess! I am hoping to stargaze and wonder as much as possible..... (have already made a good start with a lot of cake!)
ReplyDeleteHelen xox
I am very much liking your interpretation of the calendar here. As you know I have the same one and I have just crossed out mini-lovliness - last line in your picture - and written in cake.
ReplyDeleteI do like the idea of reckless cake eating! July is my fave - lots of birthday cake round here then! x
ReplyDeleteI think June is a pretty good month as well, the promise of the summer ahead and green loveliness everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI do like the green loveliness, it smelt so gorgeous today.
DeletePerhaps I should send you some of my sugar store. All of my sugar store! Yes that's the answer.
ReplyDeletewell that rainbow sugar is very pretty. but really you just need to make more cakes x
