the teenager's prom preparation.

End of week one of exams. order prom shoes online.

many shoes.

end of week two of exams. pounce upon parcels containing many shoes and pretend to be Cinderella?

Have alarming amount of hair cut off.

3 more weeks of exams to go.

Which should give me the time I need to shorten the dress.
The shoes which were the prettiest and the best fit don't raise the hem of the dress off the floor.
But they are Very pretty, and can be walked in, always a bonus!

  1. Good luck with the rest of the exams, it must be really stressful for you as well. How nice she has the prom to look forward to. I hope you have a good weekend, despite the revision. CJ xx

  2. Gosh, you've taken me back, my two girls made the most of every minute of prom prep. The boys were home educated and it's one of the few things I felt they missed out on, although the elder did his A levels at an FE college so he did attend a prom of sorts.

Good luck to the teenager and to you x

  3. My boys never bothered with any thing even looking like a prom. Sarah has 3 years to go yet, so I have all of this to look forward to.
If there are three weeks left, I'm just wondering what prom prep is left..... tattoo? body piercing?.....

;-) I hope the rest of the exams go well.

  5. Ah, prom shoes. I'm glad I'm in a lull between buying my own and buying my daughter's because I don't remember it going well. I'm sure she'll look beautiful.

  6. Hey Tess,
When Sam had his prom I just hired the suit and shoes from Top Man!! I'm not sure I'd be very good at the girl thing. Although I'm sure it's lots of fun.

  10. We are also at this stage - GCSEs and Prom prepping. Although it's prom suit not dress for us. Best of both to yours

  11. We never had a prom, but we did have a 6th year dance. I was at boarding school at the time I don't really remember any preparation, or even what I wore, but I do remember I borrowed a friend's shoes, and had to stuff tissue paper in the toes to stop them falling off! X

  12. We are also in this phase, but without all those shoes! My daughter has chosen a pair that are ridiculously high but to be fair she can run in them. She is hoping to arrive in style on a Harley although how that works with her elegant floor length dress I have no idea......... I hope your girl has a lovely evening x

  13. The best thing I did was to get a friend who is a hairdersser to do H's hair and she did look soooo lovely. Shoes were walkable in too neither of us can do anything in heels with out causing injury. The exams will fly past and I hope she enjoys her prom, oh juch a grown up time!

    1. I have mentioned hairdresser several times and she's not bothered, I hope she doesn't decide the day before she wants an appointment and then we can't get one........

  14. Ooh how exciting :) My Eldest (Son) has decided against going to the Prom - his girlfriend has left school for college and they are not allowed to bring 'outsiders' as partners to the 'do' - despite her being a pupil there less than 6 months ago.... He is relieved, she on the other hand would loved to have gone!

    1. what a shame that the school wouldn't let her go. I don't think my son will want to go when it's his turn.....

  15. If she asks to go from that hair colour to platinum blonde, say NO! Although e looked amazing for her prom with platinum blonde hair (from deepest chocolate brown) it cost a small fortune and didn't do her hair much good either! Hope the rest of it goes as smoothly as the shoes! J x

  16. Hope your daughter has a lovely prom. I used to think 'what's all that about' but having seen the amount of pressure they're put under at exam time, and Amy is still only in Year 10, I think they deserve a good night out. Does your daugher's school do the same as Amy's in that the pupils don't know where they're going until they turn up at school? Obviously transport is provided to the venue by school and all parents are sent texts so they know where they will be. xx

    1. that sounds like a fun way of organizing it. They know where they're going, premiership football ground, I think it's how they get the boys to go!

  18. Ooooh, it all sounds so fun -- well, except for the exam part -- that's a LOT of weeks of exams! Will we see a picture of the shoes and the dress on the daughter?

  19. Is she keeping all those shoes, or did the rejects get sent back? It all sounds a lot of fun, in between all the exam stuff.
