dreaming of a liberty summer

2 years ago today we had weather like this!

This week it has been a deluge of rain, thankfully we haven't suffered the misery of flooding that is in some areas.

When faced with such weather it might be sensible to plan to winter clothes, warm scarves, mittens and socks. But no, I am distracted by liberty fabric, and dreaming of wearing another summer blouse.

Since Coffee Lady convinced me that I would be able to sew one, and showed me all her wonderful pattern alterations I have been loving this top, and wanting another.

So a special day out was planned, and fabric was chosen, and every so often I get it out and look at it, and dream of summer.

And then I go back to writing lists, and planning birthday parties and refusing to accept that it will be December at the end of the week. I am Not ready for December. Are you?

  1. What a pretty blouse. I love the Liberty fabric you've chosen. Sod the list making, get your sewing machine out.
No, I'm not at all ready for December. I'm very, very behind in my gift making and buying.

  7. What a beautiful snowy photo! We too have a party to think about in December, with Christmas following fast on its heels!

The blouse is absolutely gorgeous, and I bet that liberty lawn is fabulously drapey and soft. Lovely.

  9. Definitely make the top; just think how smug you'll feel at the first signs of Spring! Like you, with two December birthdays and Christmas... Hibernating sounds good! J :-)

  10. Your snow photo is gorgeous, something we only dream about in Australia unless you live in the high country in winter.
I'm having serious blouse envy, gorgeous, gorgeous fabric.
Ready for December, nah! Usually am, but this year my world is a little upside down. And that's got nothing to living with downunder either. :)

  11. Hello Tess

The blouse is beautiful and, like you, I adore liberty prints and can happily gaze at the patterns and colours for hours.
Difficult to believe we have December around the corner. I love the Christmas season

  12. I have that fabric too. We could both make a blouse, and we could wear them together, like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny de Vito in 'Twins'.

  15. I WANT that blue and white fabric.

If you pass it over I will make arrangements for another week in November but if you don't December's going to hit you with a bang on Saturday morning.

    Just saying...

  16. I bet I want it more than Alice, it's beautiful!

I have buried my head in the sand about December, if I don't look it won't be there!

  17. We're not ready for December here either and I can't believe it's here already. I'm with you - it's more preferable to be thinking summery thoughts, especially such pretty liberty print ones!

  18. That snowy scene is wonderful, all wintery and cosy! Both those fabrics are gorgeous sometimes I just want to pin my fabrics to the walls everywhere so I can admire them all day - Annie

  19. GORGEOUS, gorgeous top, Tess! Love the fabric and the easy style of the top. I've not sewn clothing in a very, very time, years really, so this was very inspiring to see. We had our first real snow today... And I am definitely not ready for winter weather yet either! Lovely to catch up with you after returning from some travels and Thanksgiving break! I'm in a place of trying to find a harmony in all there is to do at the moment and still find time to enjoy the things I love to do--like painting, etc. This time of year is such a challenge in that respect! Happy Days ((HUGS))

  20. I'm definitely not ready!!
I love the fabric. I'd forgotten ....I used to have lots of long liberty skirts and they were so lovely and warm for the winter too....just a thought!!
I love the blouse anyway and would like to know how to sew one. Sewing seems to be another thing that slipped away just like the Liberty fabric! Enjoy your dreams in the midst of the Christmas 'busy ness' Joan
