they're coming

the builders are coming today to rip off the remaining tiles and plaster the kitchen.
then next week they'll rip out the few remaining units and start putting in the new ones!

in preparation for this I've started to empty out the remaining cupboards.

maybe I should do this more often.........

  1. Good news Tess!
This made me laugh because I recently cleaned out my spices and found older ones than that.. one jar contained little creatures ~ disgusting, hence the cleanup!!!
Hope the dust/mess is minimal.. {yeah right!} Gx

  3. Lol, I think everyone has old spice jars .If you're like me you buy them for one thing then they get put at the back of the cupboard and forgotten about..

  4. Oh such good news!

I tend to refill my spice jars...so I have some very ancient sell-by dates, that I can happily ignore having no idea at all how old the contents inside really are!

Hope your new kitchen is lovely, and also that you all your big-decision making is going well. x

  7. Thank god it isn't just me that finds things years old lurking at the back of the cupboards- I cleared out 6 jars of spices and herbs that were ready to self destruct! How lovely to have a fabulous new kitchen!

  8. Heehee! I too have recently thrown some spices away from 2002!! They didn't have any smell left to them!

And hurray!!! You must be so relieved about your kitchen.

  10. I think I might have a cupboard like yours.
I used cayenne pepper the other night that expired in 2002. I only realised after I kept adding more and more and the soup still wasn't spicy enough. Might as well have been adding red dust for all the flavour it had left.

  11. Ha ha! This isn't too bad... at least they're just spices! And I can't see any bugs crawling in them! My sister and I like to go through my parents fridge when we visit, so we can cull out the old outdated items they don't notice... the salad dressings are usually the first ones we check! Em

  14. Ha ha! I purged my spices recently, and they were just as old as yours.

Good luck with the kitchen - but will you know what to do with a pristine new one now? (ducking and running away)

  15. Great news about the kitchen. Shocking about your spices!! We had a good chuck out of such stuff before moving to here 18 months ago, but I still have a cupboard full of Sainsbury's stuff!!!

  16. Hope you're surviving the reinstatement of your kitchen!! At last it's happening for you. I cleaned out my spices last week and was really ashamed of myself!
