the bunny went this way

we've had lots of visitors recently, but this guy was my favourite.

anyone bringing chocolate is my best friend at the moment.

other blogs seem to be relishing the warmth of spring, talking of wearing skirts and flip flops, but here it's still a bit too chilly.
which is good because I don't love flip flops, but I do love socks.

These will be for my sister-in-law's birthday. It's just as well I've told her about them, or might be tempted to keep them for myself. Miss K wants a pair next.

but this weekend there will be no time for socks.
This is the big flower and vegetable bed creating weekend. So far our gardening has been only the destructive type (we've taken out 15 conifers that formed the boundary at the back, leaving it open to view the nettles that are growing in the wild bit behind our fence) trying to move a deck, (much too heavy.......) and cutting lots of turf. This weekend we're going to edge the beds with timber and then let the planting begin! (followed by some chocolate, just for sustenance of course..............)

  1. Thank goodness you have a nice, clear view of the scenic nettles now...

For the record, I loathe flip-flops. And worship your socks.

Have a blast in the garden this weekend! xoxoxo

  2. Love! love! love! the new socks- what pattern are you using? I'm afraid I'm one of the skirt and flip flop wearing people- only cos it's such a change from jeans and wellies and MUD!
Have fun planting - I'm planting up a hanging basket to make the stables look like someone cares and trying to ignore the weeds in the front garden (the only garden I have at the moment) I'm not a fan of "on display" front garden gardening- give me a back garden or veg patch any day...

  3. Fab socks and so much nicer than flip flops! Of course one of our neighbors wears socks with his flip flops...

And that sounds like some serious gardening. Was feeling quite virtuous moving my pile of compost yesterday afternoon, but that's small stuff in comparison to your labors!

  4. I am also not a fan of the flip flop - gnarly toes you see, and usually the odd black toenail just to complete the prettiness!

Your socks however are a triumph and I'm very impressed by your gardening endeavours.

  5. Very pretty socks indeed. Whilst I like flip flops in summer, I am much less a fan of them in the winter!

(and where did you find the sock patterns; I can never find ones I like)

  6. I love the patterned sock yarn! I still have the second half of a pair on my needles... will probably stay there til the autumn now!
Hope you've had a productive day outside today - I will venture out tomorrow, having spent all of today catching up with a friend (much better than gardening!)

  7. Love those socks that you will be giving to your sister-in-law. I think I would have been tempted to keep them too! Good luck on your flower and veggie bed creating. Home grown veggies really are the best!

  8. Wow those socks are just soooo cool! They look so neat and gorgeous. Hope you are having fun gardening and getting things ready to plant. I had a couple of days with one of our guests last week raking up the mountains of leaves that I should have collected back in October! Hey ho - one step at a time!
    Enjoy the weekend.
