feeling like it's Friday

feeling a bit flat today. Friday feeling? maybe. post holiday slump? probably. GCSE results stress? definitely. (she did ok). overwhelming mountain of laundry glaring at me? let's just pretend that's not there shall we.........

how about some holiday photos instead? from our favourite place of the whole trip.

take one privately owned disused granite quarry, allow it to fill it with water from a natural underground spring and you have the most amazing swimming spot I could possibly imagine.

deep clean water as far as the eye can see.
so so deep.

a giant telegraph pole to play on, in case bobbing about in the water gets boring.

and for the thrill seekers, endless rocks to leap off from terrifying heights, often whilst playing with a bat and ball at the same time, guaranteed to give mothers of said thrill seekers endless anxst and potential heart attacks........

I can't bring myself to publish a photograph of the highest jump, you'll think I'm a terrible and irresponsible person and never come back here.......

let's just focus back on that tranquil clear water shall we............

    1. what's the cure?
the weather was Amazing! in fact it was sometimes Too Hot.......

    2. The cure is planning the next holiday. looking at the photos, blogging, planning the next holiday, eating the brought home treats, wearing the holiday clothes, planning the next holiday, but the most successful cure is deffo planning the next holiday!

  8. I understand the post-holiday low, I had it bad this year (combined with some sort of bizarre guilt trip about appreciating the fact that I had been on holiday atall and what sort of First world moron was I to bemoan leaving a luxury holiday home to return to a warm, safe, comfortable, pleasant house in a safe area in a [ comparatively] civilised country blah blah etc etc) It took me a wee while to re-ground myself, so I understand your feeling low. Well done to your daughter too! Great water pics X

  10. (By eating happy cake I don't mean anything illegal or dodgy, just a huge piece of something sweet, chocolatey and sticky...)

  11. Oooh I like the look of this lake. I know a few daredevils in this house, they would jump from anywhere. Hope the Friday slump is gone now that it is Saturday. Just preparing myself for a night of dancing. I'll be having my Friday slump tomorrow.... x

  12. Congratulations to your daughter. I am sure it's a huge relief to have that task over and done with.
What a beautiful place to swim, relax and have loads of fun.
I do understand the transitions and sort of "dead space" feelings when one comes home. It takes me a long time to get back in the groove. Heck, I have a hard enough time after a day of multiple errands!
Wishing you a lovely rest of your weekend.

  13. I know ... got a slumpy feeling myself (son just gone back to Uni and all getting Autumny, bla bla bla). Did we just invent another new word there? - I like 'slumpy'. Mine always used to scale the cliffs behind any beach and my heart was jumping out of my mouth, but I wasn't the kind of mum to spoil their fun - couldn't look sometimes. Yes - we're just unfit mothers, the lot of us!! lol

  14. That looks like fun. I'd be afraid of the really high jump too. I hope your slumpy feeling has improved, I know it all too well myself.

  15. Ignore the slump. It'll soon be Christmas,
    Well done to the daughter!!!
And the swimming lake looks brilliant.

  16. That place looks fantastic. I love the picture of the leap with the baseball bat, it just looks such good fun (for them but not necessarily for you).
I think planning something is helpful in getting over a post holiday slump, just gives you something to look forward to....... And think about as you wade through the mountain of ironing.
Well done to your girl, mine did ok too x

  17. Glad the GCSE results stress is over, I can't remember being particularly nervous when waiting for my own results way back when, but I'm sure I'll be an emotional wreck with children's results - whether they do well or not so well. So I can imagine that might leave you feeling a bit drained, on top of the horrible back from hols feeling. Hope you're feeling more inflated now - a few walks on your beautiful, local beaches might help, especially if it's windy (which almost certainly it is!). And if you need another quarry swimming fix then head down to Cornwall (bit closer, though still quite a way!), we had an amazing day at one last week there, looks quite similar to your holiday one, but unfortunately minus the telegraph pole, that does look a fun extra! And I really want to see the big, high jump - to maybe give me courage to allow the huge one down here!

  18. Oh, I always suffer from post holiday blues. Getting back into the swing of things and indeed that ghastly laundry to do. Glad the GCSE results were okay - that's one thing less to worry about! xxx
