this week

this week there has been Prom - it's quite an experience to see your baby all dressed up and grown up looking...

my photo phobic daughter even let me indulge in endless pictures, although I'm not supposed to show them to everyone. (hence the back of the dress....... which is very pretty, and deserved to be seen, and also those curls, it took a Long time to make those.....)

in moments of calm there's been time for a few hexagons,

in moments of not so calm there's been late night England Women's football. My neighbours daughter has just been short listed for best player in the world cup, it was heart breaking to watch them get knocked out. in case you're wondering, no I'm not usually at all interested in football.....

and finally in order to try and gain some control there have been lists. many lists.
written in fountain pens as inspired by Silverpebble, because if you have to write a list it might as well be a joyful experience.

  1. She looks amazing, I hope she enjoyed the prom. I haven't read the Silverpebble post (next on my list) but I also like the thought of an ink pen. I wish I could quilt, the hexagons look fab, can't wait for the finished product.

    1. Thank you Sara, she had a lovely time. I'm sure you could quilt, it looks a lot harder than it is. It might be a while before these hexagons are a finished project though.......
I'm loving writing with the fountain pen, I found my old one from school, the refillable cartridge had perished, not suprisingly... but I managed to get a replacement, happy times x

  2. Beautiful curls and I love the deep blue colour of that dress.

Writing with a fountain pen is an altogether superior experience so long as you have thick paper in your notebook, otherwise it bleeds through and destroys the pages (I speak from experience ;) Mind you, that is just a good excuse to buy a new better notebook :) Enjoy your weekend. x

  3. What a gorgeous daughter you have, the long curls are stunning. I like the colour of her dress, and the cut. Mature yet playful. I hope she had a lovely time. Is your hexagon quilting a particular technique? I am asking because instinctively, I would have just sewn them together as I as go along. x

    1. thank you - she did look gorgeous x
I'm just making lots of hexagons and then I'll sew them together, when I've thought of a plan. also I can do the basting whilst watching tv without having to think about neat stitches.
I may never actually get them sewn together.............

  7. Your daughter looked beautiful. I am sure she had a wonderful time. When my son went to his a year ago it made me cry. But he does not know that. It's knowing they are all grown up now.

  10. oh the prom preparation was clearly well worth it, a beautiful dress, and I hope she had a wonderful evening. Beautiful fountain pen - this one is a turquoise fountain pen (though not refillable!), you know, to go with the new notebook you need to buy too! http://www.paperchase.co.uk/pilot-v-pen-turquoise-fountain-pen.html?utm_source=google_shopping&gclid=CjwKEAjwq-OsBRDd95aryprR9wQSJACQnU3GzT8GUEhfx88uJEPbtnYXRoDLzNS4oUcsIhrNnlBqqBoCpg3w_wcB
