you can start gorgeous new crochet projects,
you can make mince pies and decorate them with LOADS of icing sugar - after all they might as well match the outside world.
the neighbours are being wonderful, we have shared shovels, cleared each others paths, checked everyone is alright, and this morning our friend with a 4x4 is braving the shops, and has taken a list of emergency rations - milk for tea, eggs for baking x
we got a digger yesterday, the children had lots of fun watching him create giant piles of snow
and that party that was cancelled - it was re-instated as an open house, everyone took something (mince pies, tiny iced buns and popcorn from us - food that looked like snow!) and we decorated the driveway with candles in the snow -sooooooooooooo pretty
and lastly,
Oh my, the snow is so pretty even though it is so disruptive. Those snow photos are just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.

Hooray!! I love snowppropriate footwear and snowy party food. Hooray! for lovely neighbours who do your shopping. Hooray! for snow. Hooray!
ReplyDeletesounds like you have lovely neighbours Tess ... we went looking for bread this morning but the 2 shops that were open were empty - good job we have a bread maker !! Is it just me or is it worse than at the beginning of the year?
ReplyDeleteSnowed here too - it was soooo pretty yesterday morning - gently falling in soft thick flakes. Hope you wore some good thick socks with those party shoes!
ReplyDeleteLast year I couldn't get my car out for two weeks... hoping it's not that bad this year. But wouldn't mind a couple of snowdays! I'm not complaining about our snow as I love it.
ReplyDeleteGood grief.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you're all making the best of it; though it makes me feel a bit ridiculous to have got so excited about having a light covering here!
Neighbours .. Everybody needs good neighbours!! Good to hear snow didn't stop play altogether, nice shoes! X
ReplyDeleteI love your photos!!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of candles in the snow--it must look positively divine!
It is beautiful and disruptive and mesmerising! The joy of snow!
ReplyDeleteblimey-that is some serious snow Missis!!
ReplyDeleteAt least you are all safe and sound and obviously doing some serious partying too!Did you paint your toe nails or were they blue already?!xx
I want to see a digger at work as well. I'm glad that you got to go to a party.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely, lovely pics! I love the way the snow covers everything and makes it all glisten. And, yes there are definitely benefits to having snow! :) Sarah
ReplyDeleteFor all its inconvenience, I do love the way snow seems to bring out simple human kindnesses.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos.
As much as it is sometimes a pain in the you know what, snow like this is just absolutely magical! Great that you've caught it all on camera.
ReplyDeleteOh, it all looks like so much fun! Snow-candle parties with yummy treats, gorgeous vistas, friendly neighbors...and someday I would love to have a reason to wear shoes like those... xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI LOVED all your snowy posts - such wonderful photos. It's also lovely when neighbours help each other out, and sometimes get to know each other at times like this.
ReplyDeleteAlthough we saw a bit of snow in York (hope the pix didn't make you too homesick!)we haven't got any snow here yet, but the frost is so heavy everything looks white.
Enjoy your week and keep cosy. Helen x
Oh how fabulous! Now please send some down our way...! K x
ReplyDeleteGoodness, what a lot of snow! We have had some but not enough for anything to be cancelled, much to childrens disgust!
ReplyDeleteMy oh my, what snow you have up there! I have just got back from Wales (where we had snow on the last day so the taxi couldn't get up the hill to get us to the station for a couple of hours) but here in SE London it is just very very cold. Sounds like you have lovely neighbours and are making the best of it with lots of lovely crafty projects. I wonder what the purple crochet is going to be?
ReplyDeleteKeep cosy.
Ah. That is my evening shoe store of choice, too.
