mother's day

breakfast in bed of strawberry and banana smoothie and a gluten free croissant,
lots of cards drawn by the lovely E and Miss K and some lovely bulbs...

followed by
Roast sunday lunch
followed by
lemon meringue - so can anyone tell me why the lemon bit didn't set and oozed out of the pie - still tasted good though.

followed by a trip to the park
followed by a visit to a new store that's opened where there were going to be cooking demonstrations by James Martin
well we were too late for the demo's, but James was doing a book signing, so it seemed churlish not to buy one, (J said I could have it for mother's day)

I know I know, I already have too many cook books, but this one's signed....

  1. You can NEVER have too many cookbooks!

(Says she whose friend told her that she loves coming round to babysit at my house because there are so many cookbooks, it is like being in a cookbook library....)

    Happy reading :o)

  2. So, tell us - did the lovely James dance for you or was he just signing?
(Was it Divertimenti? I think he's been to the one in Cambridge; or maybe it was Nick Nairn. Can't remember!)

  3. Oh what a lovely Mother's Day! I had to laugh about the new cookbook.. does that make 109 now?

  4. Seems that you had a lovely day. And you are so lucky! I live as close as I can get to James Martin and I have never seem him around. I have never been lucky enough. I am a huge fan of his. :) Maybe one day... :)
    Have a great week.

  5. It sounds like you had a great day, lovely! There's always need for a new cookbook!

  6. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.... :0)

  7. Hmm James Martin, my kind of Yorkshire man...!

  8. If you didn't have all those books, you may forget how to cook and then the family would need to eat pot noodles forever (that's my slightly flawed theory anyway)

  9. I am sure that if the book was touched by James then his culinary magic will have rubbed of onto it. All the recipes will work first time and your husband will think you are a D. Goddess. Seems like a good investment to me!

  10. Glad you had a wonderful day...great cookbook! Happy Day ((HUGS))

  11. I agree - never too many cookbooks and that James one is one I have not seen yet. ff to Amazon now!
