beads, cake and tea

it was lovely to have my friend to visit, she wasn't here long, but we managed to fit in lots of tea drinking, a bit of retail therapy, including a new bead shop (more of that tomorrow when I've taken pictures) and lots of cake - spicy apple cake, I'll post a recipe if you want it.

now back to that news;
a long time ago in a galaxy far far away .... someone asked me about making a wallhanging, and they were full of enthusiasm but they never rang back, and I was too chicken to ring so nothing happened, until last week when my sister in law met someone at her book group who was waffling on about having this wallhanging made, and she really needed to ring the person and give her the dimensions. so s-i-l, said that wouldn't be Tess would it, and now I have a very scrappy bit of paper with some numbers scrawled on it, and have to actually make it.... eeek.

and one of J's colleagues wants a baby gift, so I thought a cushion something like this...

thanks for all the kind comments about the kitchen, I'm sure it will be fine eventually, and in a strange way it allows us to delay something I don't want to do, but that can be written tomorrow too, if I write it now we'll be late for school.....

  1. Please can you print the recipe? Myself and The List Writer have been discussing that very cake in depth this week!! How lovely to have a bead shop near you- I have to buy most of my beady stuff over the internet, which means I don't enjoy the experience quite as much as when I come across a proper shop.Good luck with your wallhanging-how exciting!xx

  2. I'd love the recipe too please :O)
    The cupcake design is really lovely!
    ..and best of luck with the wall hanging ~ I just know it will be stunning!! Gx

  3. That's exactly what I would have done, Tess - been too embarrassed to ring. Fantastic that you now know that she wants it.

    I love the cherries on the snippet of quilt that you have pictured - did you make it? It is gorgeous.

  4. Ooh good for you! You go for it! Don't be shy!! I'm egging you on but I know I'm exactly the same. I usually ring my sister up so that she will tell me that I have to do it. Good luck with getting it all done. And what's this about a bead shop? Those are very dangerous places!! I can't wait to hear about it!!

  5. I'd love to find it out more about the spicy apple cake! Glad you had such a good time with your friend. Like the cushion cupcakes! Congrats on the work I do remember reading about the person wanting one of your wall hangings. Have a good weekend

  6. I would love the recipe! I can't be sure I'd manage it - my baking skills are pretty rubbish, but I'll give it a go!
    I'm too chicken to phone people back too...I assume they've changed their minds and leave it at that. Chasing people is scary! The cupcakes cushion idea sounds perfect.

  7. Oh, that *is* exciting news - good luck!

    And I would like the recipe too. We always have apples hanging about that need using up, so apple cakes are favourite here!

thanks for visiting, I love to read your comments, and I'll reply if I can see your email, or here in the comment box.
